Terms of Use

Effective Date: July 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using DocHouse ("the App"), including the DocHouse Web portal, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use DocHouse.

2. Description of Service

DocHouse is a Zero-Knowledge, End-to-End Encrypted document management platform. It allows users to scan physical documents, extract text using on-device OCR and AI models, and securely store encrypted copies in the cloud for cross-device syncing. All document data is encrypted on your device before it reaches our servers. We have zero ability to read your content.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree to use DocHouse responsibly and legally. Specifically, you agree that:

  • You will only scan and store documents that you have the legal right to possess and process.
  • You will not use the App for any illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose.
  • You are solely responsible for the security of your Google account and your encryption recovery key.
  • You understand that losing your recovery key without a backup may result in permanent, irrecoverable data loss due to our Zero-Knowledge architecture.
  • You are responsible for keeping your device secure, including utilizing the App's biometric lock features.

4. Data Ownership and Encryption

We do not claim ownership of any documents you scan or upload. All document data is encrypted using AES-256-GCM on your device and stored as encrypted blobs. We cannot view, read, or process your document content at any time. You retain full rights and ownership of your data.

5. Web Portal Access

Access to DocHouse Web requires authentication from the DocHouse mobile app via a secure QR-based key exchange. The web session is cryptographically linked to your mobile device. If you remove a linked device from the mobile app, the corresponding web session is immediately terminated.

6. Intellectual Property

The DocHouse App, including its original content, features, functionality, design, and encryption architecture, are owned by DocHouse and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

7. Limitation of Liability

DocHouse is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the accuracy of AI extraction, OCR text recognition, or uninterrupted availability of the service. In no event shall DocHouse or its developers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits, resulting from your use of the App. Due to our Zero-Knowledge architecture, we cannot recover data on your behalf.

8. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to DocHouse at any time for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account and all associated encrypted data at any time from within the app settings.

9. Contact Us

If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us via the Support page in the app.
